Nas Used a Ghostwriter?

Hip hop journalist, Dream Hampton hit twitter claiming Nas’ Untitled album was largely written by stic.man of Dead Prez and Jay Electronica. Obviously this caused a stir as to even think Nas would resort to ghostwriters is unthinkable.

Nas hit up Big Boy’s Neighborhood in LA to speak on whether or not he uses ghostwriters.

Update: stic.man hit up his facebook to say this:

As far as the rumors about myself and jay electronika ghost writing for Nas, let me say this. Nas is one of the if not the most prolific original lyricist to EVER do it. My contributions to his album was a collaboration and an honor and under his direction of what he wanted to convey and say. Haters cant discredit that man’s genuis. Nas is the Don.

Doesn’t sound like he’s denying he wrote for Nas, in fact he’s saying he contributed. From an industry perspective, this is nothing new. Artists get reference songs and writing help from other artists all the time, just read the linear notes on any album. From a real rap head perspective this is damaging.

2nd Update: Jay Electronica has weighed in via twitter denying he ghostwrote for Nas. Here’s what he tweeted.

Nas is one of the Greatest Ever. never has and never will need a ghostwriter. that man’s pen and legacy is without question.
