GQ magazine for their annual Man of the Year 2011 issue have broken down the category into sixteen sub-categories ranging from King of the Year to Comic Genius of the Year. In their ranking they have named Jay-Z as the King of the Year and alternative R&B star Frank Ocean as Rookie of the Year.

The Jay article isn’t all that interesting but the Frank Ocean one, abeit short, does detail Frank’s quick rise via releasing his mixtape on Tumblr to singing about “sweet baby Jesus” on Watch The Throne. GQ also did this Q&A with Frank where they ask him about the non-musical advice Kanye West gave him and the musical advice Jay-Z gave him. The real question is can this kid do it again?
