2008 Year End Review

Lil Wayne ringtones

2008 will go down as the gayest year in hip hop ever. Point blank. case closed. In one year, every single thing hip hop was against became everything hip hop was for. Now I ain’t no hater ass dude, okay I am, but 2008 sucked for a variety of reasons let’s break them down.

#1 Everyone Sang Through T-Pain’s Ass
Since no one cared to rap this year, every old ass rapper “reintroduced” themselves via autotune. Roger Troutman is rolling around in his grave. This is by far the worst thing to happen to rap because you don’t have to rap anymore -everyone can sing! Yah! Please kill me.

#2 No Jay-Z album
Did Jigga really have to chicken out in ’08? There really wasn’t any competition in the fourth quarter as we previously believed as heavy weights such as 50 Cent, Joe Budden, Dr. Dre et all are now dropping their albums next year. I guess Kanye’s foray into Europeanness was way too much for anybody to compete with.

#3 Really Skinny Jeans
I’m on my fashion game and all but really skinny jeans is just pie in the face of hip hop. I know it’s a way for hipsters to buck the system, where the system is hip hop, but this is getting f*cking ridiculous. I’m not saying bring back Hammer pants, but can’t we just rock something that kinda fits.

#4 Hip Hop Just Ain’t Cool No More
It was bound to happen, myspace rappers and facebook famous assholes have made being involved in anything rap related played the hell out. I can’t even tell people I run a hip hop site anymore, I can only imagine what it’s like telling people “I rap”. Do you realize how many rappers there are? I personally know 55 million rappers. I could start my own rap country.

#5 Rockstars
Remember that whole gay rock star phase everyone went through for the majority of the year. For some reason (Jim Jones you bastard!) the hip hop community thought it was mad cool to be a rock star and everyone started dressing like Steven Tyler. I’m glad that phase, at least musically, quickly died out. For next year, I predict people will be on some “house” tip.

Best Hip Hop Album of 2008
In 2007, we we’re lucky to have some great albums such as Joe Budden’s Mood Musik 3 and Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool. In 2008, we had nothing but garbage. I know Budden put out Halfway House and that was good and all but it didn’t feel like a real album but more as condolence prize. As much as it pains me to say this the top albums of 2008 go to Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter 3 and T.I.’s Paper Trail.

Best Song of 2008
Without a doubt the biggest song of 2008 goes to Lil Wayne for his anthem for eating out vagina, “Lollipop”. Sorry kids if you didn’t know that.

Biggest Card Pull of 2008
Rick Ross. I don’t think this guy can ever comeback. He’s going to have to make the greatest album ever about being a normal person and not another one about being the biggest drug dealer in the universe.

YoRapper’s Hip Hop New Years Resolution
To tell more little kids to shut the f*ck up when they talk about their views on hip hop because ’08 was a disgrace thanks to the 90’s babies.
