Nas Nigger

So Nas is making some news this week, after leaking “Be a Nigger Too” to the internetz, he also made some disparaging remarks about Tiger Woods in a recent King interview. The back story is that Nas’s song from his last record “These Are Our Heroes”, which was a great song, takes some shots at Black celebs such as Tiger Woods, Taye Diggs and Cuba Gooding Jr. for marrying women that are white. He implicitly argues that they couldn’t find any good Black women, so had to settle for a white women. Nas elaborated on this in the interview, here’s what he said,

Tiger Woods standing up for this white lady who said something about him being lynched is a coon move to me. God bless the brother. I like to see him doing his thing, but that’s a flaw in his character. That’s an issue I would have with Tiger Woods; not who he is married to.

Now yes this is a known problem in the Black community that when a Black man attains financial success he will usually wife a non-Black women, usually of Latin decent or a chick whose like 1/4 Black, 1/4 Asian and 2/4 German. The only problem I have with Nas for making this argument is that this guy is married to Kelis whose half Chinese and Puerto Rican! Time for the “Hypo-the-crite” chant.

Now if are to assume you are not referring to non-Black women and that your criticism is directed at white women only, this wouldn’t make you a hypocrite, but just an idiot.

This whole argument reminds me of whenever I see Rastamans screaming “Bun the white man” and then wifing a fat ugly white girl with dreads.

Though they did say “Bun the white MAN“.

    meh…nah.

    Can’t ride with you on that one. The idea of the “trophy wife” has little to do with the actual race of the woman in question , but of the man’s possible perception — and his statement to the world — of what beauty actually “looks” like to him.

    If a couple is actually in love, than yeah, I’m all for it.

    But Nas was speaking on the phenomenon where black men are raised to see black women as “ugly” and white women as the standard of conventional beauty. So a “trophy wife,” if that’s what one is looking for, has to subscribe to THAT version of beauty.

    When Nas met Kelis he probably had no idea she was anything other than black. I know I didn’t know. (And for the record, she can’t be half Chinese and half puerto-rican and half black; that’d be 1/3.)

    In the past year, there have been a lot of commonly held beliefs in the black community that have come under fire by mainstream media that are just now finding out about them (thank you Obama), this is one such belief.

    So to just make it clear:

    When black people get mad at a black person for dating/marrying a white (or to lesser extent, someone of any other race) person, it’s not so much because they’re white, but because of how such a move plays into the old stereotype that the white image is our standard of beauty.

    Some people find the phenomenon troubling, others find it offensive. Nas seems to the type to find it worthy of a good ol’ fashion lynching. lol.

    yeah thats one problem with this world black people wana talk about racism racism but wtf what he just said justifies that. Oh I bet if we had a WET there would be some big controversy.     My man Richard Corey could not be more on point. Racism does not care what your ethnic background is only what color your skin is(to the d%ck who made this post) and Nicole. When Kelis and a white woman are walking up to the same door, I bet that white woman will step aside so Kelis may enter first. Fear of black people is great. That is what Racism is about. For all the stupid white mother fu%%as out there who are always talking that black people are racist shit, why is it that only whites believe that they are the most high race on earth. No other race feels that way. Everybody else would be happy just living. And not all white people are bad, but I can’t stand racist fu%%cks and I can’t wait for the war to pop.

    You all really need 2 be more wise with your headlines. I understand that u actually feel like you’re “keeping it real,” when in actuality u can find yourselves issuing apology statements in the future. People who read this junk please give the person a chance to say what they were “so-called,” quoted as saying & explain what they meant by it. These money hungry journalists can twist peoples words & make things bigger than what they are. Make sure you ALWAYS get your info from the horses mouth.

    hmm i was just reading some of these things, and thought to myself danm people sure can be stupid (nas included) But then i realized with my personal experiances, and I’m assuming Nicole verifies this as well, but I hate white women too…. Erica you got a facebook?
