Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter 3 First Week Sales
How many sales will Tha Carter 3 have in it’s first week? If judging by the response to the amount of comments our review of the album has generated Tha Carter 3 is going platinum in seven days. And it looks like we may not be too far off.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Tha Carter 3 will sell anywhere from 850,000 to 950,000 units within its first week based off the last two days worth of sales. In fact, the album has already sold more in the last two days than Kanye West’s Graduation within the same time frame.
Pat Monaco, an executive from Universal Records (Lil Wayne’s label), commented, “The sales the first few hours were exceeding the rate that the Kanye album sold a year ago.” He also commented about the leak which occurred almost three weeks ago, saying that “[Tha Carter III] was one of these records that, because it was so highly anticipated, with the leaks and everything, it caused more people to go out at eight in the morning to buy the CD.” We’re not really buying that argument, but we do now a lot of 13 to 18 year olds are picking up the album.
It just goes to show you, hard work pays off.
