Lil Wayne Speaks on His Addiction to Cough Syrup

If you’ve ever seen Lil Wayne perform or for that matter on tv in general, you’ll know he carries with him a styrofoam cup. What’s he drinking? Promethazine and Codeine, better known as cough syrup and the same concoction that killed Dj Screw and Pimp C. Lil Wayne spoke to MTV about his addiction to sizzurp. Here’s what the idiot had to say,
“But I’m going through that same sh– with my friends, with my mom. Everybody wants me to stop all this and all that. It ain’t that easy. Do your history, do your research. It ain’t that easy — feels like death in your stomach when you stop doing that sh–. You gotta learn how to stop, you gotta go through detox. You gotta do all kinds of stuff. Like I said, I’m a selfish-ass n—a. I feel like everything I do is successful and productive. It’s gonna be hard to tell me I’m slipping. It’s hard to sit and tell a n—a ‘Stop.’ ‘F—, how can we tell this n—a to stop when every f—ing thing he do is successful? This n—a is making progress. He just went and talked to kids and that sh– was amazing.’ Feel me? So what am I doing wrong?

Wayne is a junkie like everybody else and he’s just gonna find out the hard way. It’s sad because he is marginally talented and he’d be cheating his fans. He seems intelligent enough to know what he’s doing is unhealthy and dangerous but in the grips of addiction that doesn’t amtter.

I love Lil Wayne just as much as anyone else out there and believe that he has played a significant role in todays hip-hop but I honestly can’t believe everyone would sit here and support something that supposedly is detrimental to your “idols” health… if you want to continue to listen to his music you would probably rather him get help than end up dead without it… yes it is his on life but there is a point where other things take control of a person and they need outside help because they don’t realize their own problems.. I think that it is sad that ya’ll can sit here and tell him to continue to do something that will eventually lead to his downfall… true fans would hope for his recovery not support his failure… I hope you realize what your doing wrong Weezy and that you will see how much you will better yourself by stopping!!!

As a recovering junkie (clean and sober 19 years), I can tell you that Lil Wayne stands at the crossroads. His choices are:
A. Jails, institutions, death
or
B. Turning his will and his life over to God.
That’s always a tough decision for strong willed people. Lil Wayne is very strong willed, however will his power alone is not ever going to be enough for him to get clean, and stay clean.
Believe me when I tell you that my past addictions make Lil Wayne look like a choir boy.
Lil Wayne has enormous talent, however unless he gets help, he will die young. Asking for help is humbling, however there is no shame in the asking. As driven and talented as he is, I have a feeling that he hasn’t even scratched the surface of what he can accomplish. If he doesn’t get clean, he will simply become just another statistic.

Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive. He knows it, everybody knows it. He can do whatever the fuck he wants because he will always be remembered as the talent. He has obtained so much talent for the past years that we should concentrate on his music and not on the cough syrup. He knows what he is doing.
