Kanye West Rushes Stage During Taylor Swift’s Speech
Posted on: September 14, 2009 29 comments so far (is that a lot?)Kanye West rushed the stage at the 2009 MTV Music Video Awards while Taylor Swift was giving her acceptance speech for best video by a female artist. Half way into Taylor’s speech, Kanye West appears out of nowhere only to grab the mic from Taylor and declare that “Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time”, referring to “Single Ladies”. That didn’t sound like much of an apology to me! Parts of it sounded like a child wrote it (no offense intended to any children for the comparison)”I like the lyrics….” Yes, he says he was sorry and that he was in the wrong, but he turns around and justifies it by saying “welcome to the real world”! Well, in Kanye’s “real world” black people run around making everything a race issue (ie. Katrina, Black Eyed Peas and Green Day winning awards over him, him getting a smaller stage than Justin Timberlake at an awards show…any of these ring a bell?) and decide that they have to liquor up and make everyone roll their eyes at them because they have no “off switch”. I am not a racist by any means, but people, like Kanye, set blacks back at least 100 years, and keep racism alive in this country. This award was based on a voting system, so maybe people voted for Taylor Swift to win because they voted for Beyonce to get Best Video overall! Does everything have to be a race issue?!
Apology or not, Kanye needs to be banned from all future award shows. He’s pulled this stunt one too many times and although he’s achieving at getting attention, we need to teach him a lesson by boycotting his music. We did the same thing to Chris Brown for being charged with domestic violence felonies didn’t we? Why should Kanye get any “special” treatment?!
