Drake Blackberry’d His Way Through Flex Freestyle?

When I first heard Drake spit a “freestyle” on Flex show the other night I actually thought he was spitting memorized verses, it turns out he was scrolling through his Blackberry reading his rhymes! Drake lost a few points here because all the pauses to find lyrics are so lame. Now I’m starting to wonder if Jay-Z does the same thing? Nah, not Jay.

    I appreciate a good freestyler just as much as, if not more than, the next person, but I think if we found out who actually freestyles vs spitting already written material, the public would be flabbergasted. I remember when the BET show with Big Tigger used to come on. I don’t remember the name of it. Does it still come on? Anyway, he had the booth set up in there and dudes used to go in, but like a few months later I would have like deja vu listening to one of their songs. That used to be my favorite part of the show until I realized half those guys were just reciting written rhymes, not freestyling off the top of their head. It was exciting to think that these guys were actually coming up with that stuff off the dome, but alas some weren’t.

    Not everyone is quick-witted enough to be able to freestyle successfully. Not everyone can be a Jay-Z and freestyle (memorize) entire songs. Some guys have to play around with their verses to get it to sound good. I like Drake as a rapper. I have all his mixtapes. I don’t ever want to hear him try to freestyle though. It’s like Kanye to me. I have heard Kanye go in on a couple of ciphers, but I have heard many more where he was wack. But I will (and do) fully support Kanye to the death (just not in freestyling.)

    the problem ain’t so much that he’s reading his blackberry…… wait, YES the hell it is! that is a problem.. how the hell you the “rapper” with the biggest buzz since 50 cent and you go on funk mutherfunkin master flex’s show and you ain’t ready to punch in and go to work like a professional? ANNNNNND on top of that you GOT the damn blackberry scrollin so fast it’s smokin and ain’t enough rhymes in there to get you through the show!!?? nigga this ain’t oprah!! what you thought you was gone come on the show and share yo hopes and dreams.. all this equals LAME!

    ps. does he even deserve this buzz? why he got it? what it come from? can somebody tell me?

    not cool..especially not at Hot 97 on video, when we as rappers go to stations, we freestyle or recite hot writtens..he read off paper(blackberry)

    exactly koudflyfresh, we freestyle on Hot 97 it’s a tradition we been doing for years , how hard is it to cum up with sumthang off the dome, or if he just wanna to play the sucka role he could have just remembered sumthang he wrote awhile ago and spit it, Drake u a Lame as dude just like Jak up there who knows nothing of what he is talking about
