The Last Glass Ceiling Shatters

glass shatters barack obama
YoRapper’s reaction to Barack Obama winning the Presidency.

The last glass ceiling which has divided this country and even the world has just been shattered. The walls which have divided us for far too long and that have become our own explanations for our failures have been destroyed. The obstacles to achieving our own success have been set ablaze and remain in smoldering ash. We can no longer say we cannot do it because we are Black. We can no longer say we can not do it because we are an Immigrant. We can no longer say we cannot do it because we are Young. We can no longer say we cannot do it because we are a Woman. We can no longer say the White man is holding us down. We can no longer say, we can not.

Today we not only stand on the shoulders of giants to see further, but we stand on the shoulders of giants to see behind us. Tonight is a vindication of all those that have paid the ultimate price for global human progress. People such as Mahatma Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy and even Jesus all gave their life, so today could have been possible. All those that stood up during the civil rights movement and said they can instead of saying they can’t are vindicated. All those that gave their life in the Great World Wars that stood up for life, liberty and pursuit of happiness are vindicated. All those that stand up everyday in the cold face of adversity are vindicated.

This is no longer Barack Obama’s moment. This is our moment. The United States of America has just proven it is the greatest nation on Earth where anything, even the impossible, is possible.

Special Comment: The Problem with Tha Carter 3

Lil Wayne Tha Carter 3 review

Now since I’ve already reviewed Tha Carter 3 and have received a whole heap of death threats and insults from the Wayne stans as a result I thought I would take the opportunity to respond to some of the comments made. Let me preface my comments by saying I do listen to Lil Wayne and have heard everything he has put out from 500 Degreez to the Dj Drama/Empire mixtapes to the Tha Carter series. I think he has improved dramatically from when he first came out, because when he first came out he was the equivalent of a Hurricane Chris. Read more »
