Cocaine is a Hella of Drug

You know it’s crazy, almost every other week, I hear about a friend or someone I used to know that sniffs that white stuff. It’s shocking because, I always had this moral principle (which I learned through this rap music) that being a dust head just isn’t cool. I mean look how disrespectful we are toward fiends as if they are sub-human or zombies. Cocaine references have always been a part of hip hop culture and I always thought that we were being warned to stay away from the white stuff because it is a loser drug. For the record, I have never tried it, and am vehemently against ever trying it ever. Read more »

OMG Find of the Night: Sean Hannity Hypocrite on Rev. Wright Issue

Now not many people know this but Sean Hannity of Fox fame was one of the first people to blast Barack Obama for the comments of Jeremiah Wright particularly his remarks regarding September 11th and the now infamous quote “America’s chickens have come home to roost”. Now rewind to last year, when Christopher Hitchens author of the book God is Not Great appeared on Hannity & Colmes and Hitchens brought up the remarks Rev. Jerry Falwell (remember him? That religious guy who died last year) made about September 11th,

Lil Wayne Fatigue

Do you know how many songs Lil Wayne has? Millions. Just go to youtube and see how many songs this guy has that no one has ever heard. I understand you’ve got to keep working and making songs, because that’s what you do, but I think I’m Lil Wayne’d out. He’s got some great verses and lines, but he also has a lot of sub-par material. Some freestyles I hear and think “Why did he put this out?”. A majority of these freestyle verses his flow is so off beat and just sounds like a drunk guy was let into the booth (oh wait). Even the constant pushing back of his album is getting annoying. Read more »

Nas Hates White Women

Nas Nigger

So Nas is making some news this week, after leaking “Be a Nigger Too” to the internetz, he also made some disparaging remarks about Tiger Woods in a recent King interview. The back story is that Nas’s song from his last record “These Are Our Heroes”, which was a great song, takes some shots at Black celebs such as Tiger Woods, Taye Diggs and Cuba Gooding Jr. for marrying women that are white. He implicitly argues that they couldn’t find any good Black women, so had to settle for a white women. Nas elaborated on this in the interview, here’s what he said, Read more »

WTF is with Florida Teachers?

This is like the 100th case in Florida of a female teacher sexing a young teenage boy. My question is what the F is going on in Florida? Are there no able dicked guys over 30 in Florida to pipe these skanky teachers? Well we all know Florida is a pro-Bush state. Read more »

Alicia Keys is a Conspiracy Theorist?

Alicia Keys Tickets

Alicia Keys recent interview in Blender magazine has revealed some interesting things about the songstress. I was actually listening to her album while reading the piece (which is crazy album), but maybe I’m a have a little crush on her so I really don’t care what she says. Anyway, here’s what she had to say about gangster rap. Read more »

So the Best Song in Rap was about the Worst Rapper?

So today Lupe Fiasco comes out and “admits” that Hip Hop Saved My Life was actually based in part of the story of Slim Thug. I didn’t find this surprising but just found that he admitted it interesting. If I was him, I would have just kept it secret, because the song itself has a kind of “diss record” feel to it. And I’m not saying it is a diss record to Slim Thug, because it is not. But in the sense that its narrative which deals with the typical rapper on the come up scenario. It’s like when you say that’s “so typical”, it comes with negative connotation. I still think the song is one of the best songs ever made in hip hop and should have its place in hip hop history. These Rappers are Looken Old as Funk

So I just read that today is Pharrell’s 35th birthday. This dude is 35 years old? Damn. This got me thinking most of these rappers that the kids look up to are old as funk. Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Wu-Tang, are damn near 50 years old. Dip Set, Kanye, 50 Cent, Rick Ross, and Common are all damn near hitting 40. LL Cool J’s got to be 80 years old right now. This is just pretty funny to me considering the average rap album buyer is probably 15. But I know, I know the 20 somethings are probably the ones buying all the Common and Rick Ross albums what with all their Call Center money to blow. Read more »

Is the Hip Hop Gang Cool with Gays?

**Disclaimer: If your Jamaican and you have a plaque over your bed that reads “batty man fi dead” don’t read this.

Gays are such a conundrum to the modern thinking hip hop heads like me. Even though, artists like Kanye West, Common and the Beastie Boys have denounced the use of “fag” and the anti-gay slang we use, while other artists like Fat Joe are still prone to call their enemies “homo” and put out photoshop’d dvd covers of them doing gay pr0n shots (which was suspect in itself). But even I, when I get into “beef” with someone am liable to call them such names to degrade them. I remember one time I told someone, “you make gay people look straight”. And I only say that to show I have respect for the gheys. Read more »
