Forbes has released their list for the rap games best earners for 2008. Topping the list and overcoming Jay-Z is none other than 50 Cent. Hey remember when he went at Jay on “Be A Gentlemen” and he was broke as a joke, now he’s surpassed Hov. Whoa. I’m not sure who has more money Jay-Z or 50 Cent, I assume they are pretty close.
I always find these numbers suspect because how is Diddy and Kanye nearly tie? And how did Kanye make $30 million, all that guy does is music, and wack search engines and travel agencies. I suppose his tour had a huge profit margin for him, what with all the robots and puppetry. Sales of Sean Jean must be falling.
Another thing how did Timbaland only make $22 mill? Assuming Kanye made most of his money of producing, Timbaland must have a made a boatload of money from producing Justin Timberlake’s whole album. Speaking of producers, how did Dr.Dre make $15 mill in 2007? What did he produce? Joel Ortiz? Even Eminem caked up and he hasn’t put out anything in years. Somebody must be buying that Shady Clothing.
Did Lil Wayne really make $13 mill last year? I don’t know. He did 100 features at probably $5000 to $10,000 a pop. The math doesn’t add up unless he charges 100k a feature and you know Playaz Circle didn’t drop that much. Matter of fact, they probably just gave Weezy some syzurp and a bj.
