In a move that isn’t that all surprising rapper Nas will not be titling his next album “Nigger”. A representative from Def Jam has said Nas has decided instead to call his album “Nas”. Nas released a statement today regarding the title change saying,

It’s important to me that this album gets to the fans. It’s been a long time coming. I want my fans to know that, creatively and lyrically, they can expect the same content and the same messages. It’s that important. The streets have been waiting for this for a long time. The people will always know what the real title of this album is and what to call it.

It looks to me that Nas had a severe change of heart [read: Universal's suits ain't having it.]

Now if you haven’t heard of Russell Peters, where have you been? Aside from being one of my favorite comedians, he’s also of the funniest observational comedians when it comes to race. Now race and culture are usually regarded as very touchy subjects for some people and most generally like to keep things “politically correct” or “pc”. But not Russell.

Coming from a South Asian background, born and raised the largely multicultural city of Brampton, (a suburb of Toronto, Canada) Russell Peters is uniquely positioned as one of the only comedians that can make fun of just about any race and get away with it. In fact, Russell’s routine boost of not only “fish out of water” Indian jokes, but he also makes light of the many diverse cultures of East Asia such as Chinese, Filipino, and Vietnamese cultures. He also has some good Black jokes as well and let’s not forget old White jokes (do they ever never get tired?). It’s also no wonder that his audiences also include a high percentage of people of those backgrounds as well. Now how did Russell get so big that your actually interested in reading this?

Well as legend would have it his appearance on Canadian network CBC aired a stand up routine he did, I believe this was sometime in 2004 on television. Someone, somewhere, uploaded this video to Youtube and the rest is pretty much history. He explains this in his recently released DVD, Outsourced. However, keep in mind, Russell Peters had been performing for as little as FREE.99 for over twenty years before making it big, so he is by no means an overnight success kids.

Wow someone failed grade 10 history.

On that note, this is so indicative of right-wing talk show radio hosts and pundits who have no background in history and politics nor have even read a book or gone to school on the subjects to which they speak to their audiences about. Imagine having a sportscaster host a basketball game who never saw Jordan play? Who never even watched a basketball game before? That’s what it’s like with these on-air right wingers.

Notice: “You can’t talk without talking with strength”. You just did by screaming for seven minutes.

According to reports, Canadian R&B singer has signed on to play Aaliyah in an upcoming movie based on the late singer’s life. The movie will begin shooting in August and will likely come out next year.

This is a great choice because I always thought Keshia Chante looked a little like Aaliyah, hopefully she can be able to channel some of the same sexy hood swag Aaliyah had. [Full disclosure: YoRapper had a serious crush on Aaliyah bitd.]
