Is Rick Ross the New Biggie? They both are “fat, black and ugly as ever” and they both have tremendous charisma, mic presence and delivery that bring out every word. It looks like Rick Ross’ second album, “Trilla”, may just be that.

I’m going to introduce you today to a simple concept which has helped me a lot over the years. And it’s basically the idea, I call, individual responsibility. It’s a pretty straight forward way of thinking which I can summarize with the following motto;

“The Me Tomorrow is Going to Hate/Love the Me of Today if I Do action A or action B.”

Let me explain, what this means is that if you are going to drink and get crunk tonight “the you” tomorrow is going to hate your dumbass tomorrow for the puking and subsequent hangover, so you would drink in moderation. Now apply this to anything in life, school and work.

If your in school, it is only you that can get those grades up. If your working or running your own business, it is only up to you to make that money. Duh. I know. But with the recent election and with all these politicians telling us how they are going to save us, I feel the damn need to stand up and say “I don’t need to be saved, I can save my own damn self.” Don’t you?

To me only losers want to be saved, no scratch that, only losers are begging to be saved. No one on earth is going to save you (and no one in heaven is going to save you, but that’s for another day). For all my ladies out there, no man is going to save you, save yourself first before having kids and being another broke ass single mom. For my fellows, become a man first, before you have kids and screw up your life and some next persons life. Save yourself.

Act as if the government doesn’t give out welfare, act as if no one owes you anything, because guess what no one does owe you anything. Theres only one person that owes you everything and that’s yourself. This may not be the most popular thing to say (but hey I’m too popular anyway) stop believing in God and start believing in yourself. God’s not going to save you. The universe does work in weird ways to help your ass out, and God may or may not have something to do with it, but it is up to YOU to get there. Step up to the plate…

He did it again. Obama wins the democratic primary n Wisconsin 58% to Hilary Clinton’s 41%. This will make it Barack Obama’s 9th consecutive win this month. With a total delegate vote of 1,301, and needing a total of 2,025 to win, Barack has pulled a head as the likely favorite for the presidential democratic nomination.

Keep in mind, however, Hilary Clinton trails behind only slightly with 1,239 delegate votes. And with only 10 states left to vote, it looks like the so-called superdelgates, that is high ranking democrats may have the final say in who gets the democratic nod.

Judging from the amount of people going for Obama right now, it looks like he may clinch it.

Ever get the feeling that your so close to making “it” that you can almost taste it? Well not taste it, but you know what I mean. The last few months I’ve been feeling like I am so close to making it, I just can’t wait. I’ve been working on a project over the last month and it seems like it’s actually going to take me to the “next level”. I almost started crying the other day, thinking about it, I’ve been flat broke for a while now and just barely making enough to scrape by, so its been hard seeing my friends go out and ball while I had to work and save, but I think I’m on the verge of my big break.

Jamie Foxx’s Foxhole radio sat down with Nasir Jones aka Nas to discuss his upcoming album “Nigger”. Nas talks elaborates on his red carpet comments regarding Blacks only having 25 more years to vote, white guys buying the “Nigger” album, when hip hop died, garbage rappers, and his influence on the sub-genre of horror-core rap.

Nas also mentions “Nigger” will be released April 22, 2008.

This article is in response (and to add to the discussion) by The Wolf at AHH on his article Black History Now: Obama > Racism?. I’m not going to regurgitate what The Wolf said and even though I agree with most of his points, I disagree with him on one point which is fundamental to his argument. I’m not going to regurgitate his whole article (you can read it yourself), but his main point that systemic racism still exists even though Barack Obama has managed to win the democractic primaries in largely white states, seems a little “Al Sharpton” for me. He says,

When we look at the problems facing African-Americans today that stem, in part, from institutionalized racism: poverty, crime, lopsided incarceration rates, police brutality, and the scourge of drug addiction, we can easily see that a black democratic nominee or even a black president isn’t going to make these problems vanish when he puts his hand on the Bible and takes the oath of office. It’s not about what color the president is, it’s about what bills the president signs, and to really address these issues a President Obama would have to take some very controversial steps.

Al Sharpton aka Captain Save a Negro

Now for those of you who don’t know what I mean by “Al Sharpton”, I mean it seems like how Al & Co seem to be fighting systemic racism when systemic racism is really non existent now a days. Okay that was a bold statement, but let me make another one. If and when, Barack Obama becomes the president of the United States of America, it will be more than enough confirmation that systemic racism is a non-issue. Think about it? If the majority of people in America (who are white), vote for a half Black dude, as their leader, to the highest position in the land, doesn’t this by definition mean systemic racism is water under the bridge. Really think about it? A Black man beat the system. And this isn’t like being the first black man to play baseball (shouts to Jackie), this is the first black man to beat “THE SYSTEM”. A perfect analogy would be to compare Barack to Neo in the matrix.

Your the One Barack

As Neo believed with every once of his being that he could “beat” the matrix, Barack has fought (and been groomed) his whole life to take on the system and become exactly what he wanted to be (hopefully the next president). Now what does this have to with The Wolf’s comments that systemic racism still exists in “poverty, crime, lopsided incarceration rates, police brutality, and the scourge of drug addiction”. The reason Black people are over represented in the prison system is not because of systemic racism, but because they just don’t believe in themselves. The people who were trapped in the matrix didn’t have the will to break out of the matrix and some even wanted to live in the matrix over the real world. And it’s not just Black people, the majority of people are average to below average because they do not have the confidence to do something with their lives. These people are not victims of racism, they are victims of their own free will.

Donut Eating Cops

I’ve been in the victim of racial profiling my whole life. But do I blame the police for stopping me to question me? Or should I blame the people who look like me for causing the crimes, the police are looking to arrest. Not to get into racial profiling, but this is usually the evidence those who think systemic racism still exists point out. Now before the few liberals who read YoRapper get upset, I’m not saying police are not racists, because I’ve come across a lot of racist police. But I’ve also come across a lot of police that are just looking for someone who happens to look like me and once they figured I wasn’t their man, I was let go. Think about it? If a Chinese dude shot up your crib, wouldn’t you be looking for anyone that looked Asian? Isn’t this just common sense.

The Solution to All Your Problems

The real problem facing Black Americans and as a matter fact the majority of Americans is the loser mentality. I am 100% for Barack, but at times I can’t stand how he and every other politician proclaims he will fix the average person’s problems. I say, fix your own damn problems, you’ll be much better off than relying on someone else. Essentially, once you believe you have the power to change your situation, blaming everyone for your problems becomes real childish.

Now go OBAMA!

The 50th Grammy’s popped of tonight and what was the talk of the red carpet? The upcoming presidential election? The war in Iraq? Kanye West? Not exactly. Nas’s “nigger” t-shirt promoting his upcoming album was the talk of the carpet as mainstream reporters asked Mr. Jones about the message behind his apparel.

I really think Nas is finally figuring out how to market and taking a page from Kanye’s book on how to “brand” an album. This is definitely a good look, especially when Nas comes off as a concerned parent educating America’s youth on the pitfalls of ignorance. Now hopefully, Nas can make a good album.
