I always wanted to play the video game “Hitman” cause it looks mad cool. But since I never got a chance too, on a bored snowy friday night had the choice of either having a few beers on the block (in the cold) or checking out the movie “Hitman”. I chose the latter, bad move. Read more »

Bun B Speaks on Pimp C

Bun B

In his first interview since Pimp C’s passing, an emotional Bun B sheds some light with MTV on the man himself Pimp C. Bun talks about Pimp C’s musical genius, where he got his swagger from and the reasons behind his recent controversial remarks about his Southern peers. Check out this highlight from the interview when Bun was asked how does it feel to be finally recognized.

Bun B: I just got a call about a few hours ago that we got a Grammy nomination. Me and my VP from Jive [Records] were talking about this, because we been on this label for 15 years. We’ve known these people longer than we’ve known a lot of people in our lives. And he can always remember Pimp telling him, “We going to the Grammys,” and them looking at this little kid from Port Arthur like he’s crazy: “He may make some good music and sell a few records, but what they do? That kind of stuff doesn’t go to the Grammys.” And 15 years later, a song I told him we shouldn’t do and he was adamant about it — and he got his Grammy nomination just like he always wanted. I’m so happy for him. I’m so proud of him. Because he did it exactly like he wanted to do it: on his terms. We had a nomination before with Jay-Z — and we were very blessed and honored for that. But that was Jay featuring us — this one was us. Not taking anything away from Outkast, because that definitely comes into play. But at the same time, us putting Outkast on the record was his vision — seeing things a little further — and God putting together a plan for us. [He pauses.] I’m really happy for him. I know he just popped a bottle! Because in all honestly, this is what he wanted [to win a Grammy]. He’s gonna put a Grammy on his mama’s shelf. He’s gonna put a Grammy on his mama’s shelf, man. [He pauses again.]

Chilling ain’t it? Read the rest of the interview here.

Joe Budden Pay Your Internet Bill

Joe Budden

It’s not a mystery that I am in anticipation of Joe Bud’s Mood Muzik 3 (which is supposed to drop some time in December 07), but cot damn this nigga is really fucken up his promotion game right now. His website www.joebudden.org has been done for like the past two weeks! When you try to access the site it just says, “This Account Has Been Suspended” and “Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible.” WTF. The internet soldiers (the name given for Joey’s most vocal internet fans) are going to be throwing their keyboards out the window!

Why? Because the only way to get your hands on MMM3 is through the site by pre-ordering it. You fucked up Joey! If this album is delayed the heads are not going to have a very good Christmas what with Lil Wizzel’s Tha Carter 3: Tha Leak not coming out and all, who are we going to turn to for those crazy lyrics? Birdman? [sidebar: his album leaked last night and I must admit is pretty damn funny]. Joey better not have got a record deal, I’ll be pissed!! *Turns up Dumb Out*

Jay-Z Leaving Def Jam?

Jay-Z

The New York Daily News claims they have a “source” that has told them that Hov’s contract negotiations with Def Jam may be coming to a stand still as Jay-Z is allegedly asking for too much money [sidebar: I'm overcharging niggas for what they did to the Cold Crush]. As it stands now Jay’s salary for serving as Def Jam president is a sweet 8 to 10 million a year.

The source goes on to say that paying him any more than that would be unjustifiable as,

Everybody knows he’s not around the office much. Everybody at Universal loves him, but they can’t justify paying him the money he wants when so many people have been laid off.

Yup, we all know Jay ain’t going to do no 9 to 5. I think they should give him a pay raise cause he has been able to break a lot of artists such as Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Jeezy, Kanye, Rick Ross and has brought over the big name artist such as Nas and Jadakiss. He has however alienated the acts that were on before he arrived such as LL Cool J and Joe Budden. But ultimately Def Jam’s future rest with its younger artist. If Jay leaves they all may abandon ship or may not be able to put out as strong material as all material out of Def Jam has been Jay-Z approved.

Get Easy Money For Rapping?

Lil Wayne

Imagine if you could get easy money just by writing lyrics? I’m sure many up and coming rappers know the feeling as studio time and beats don’t come cheap. Well the folks over at www.poetry.com hope to help put some cash into those pockets as long as you got the skills. You see every month they give away any where from $1,000 to $10,000 a week just for submitting your poems. In fact, this coming year they plan on giving over $100,000 away. Now if you have raps that are poem-like and actually paint a picture you could have a chance at winning some serious cash.

How does it work? All you have to do is submit an original rap thats about 24 lines or fewer with a maximum of 65 characters. You are then automatically entered to compete in two contests. The first prize is for $1,000 and is like the people’s choice awards which is judged by viewers from all over the world. The second prize is for $10,000 which is judged by a panel of editors from www.poetry.com. These contests run every month so you have a chance every month to win.

This looks like easy money for anyone with real skills as the previous winners look like suburban stay home moms with nothing better to do -writing fluff rhymes about their pet cat and their daughter’s soccer practice. To enter a rap just go to www.poetry.com. Good luck and if you do win remember to hit me off with 10%!

Remy Ma Not Allowed to Talk to G-Unit

Remy Ma

In the January issue of Shirt Sizes, Remy Ma among other things in her life, namely her shooting case, talks about how Fat Joe put a clause in her release contract from his label that she could not work with any member of G-Unit for the next three years. Here is the quote, to read the full article check out the latest Shirt Sizes.

So to get out of the contract, you had to sign that you wouldn’t work with anyone from G-Unit?
Everybody’s like, “Are you serious?!” And then everyone laughs. I’m telling you, their government names [are all in the paperwork], like even Prodigy, Havoc, Whoo Kid, Olivia, Hot Rod! I don’t even know this guy Hot Rod! Young Buck, Yayo. It’s like, “Calm down, are you that pressed?” It’s so petty… Am I saying to him, “You can’t do any songs with Lil’ Kim or Foxy Brown”?

You can’t collaborate with anyone from that crew forever?
For three years. So Joe’s checking their charts, calculating, like, hopefully in three years G-Unit fell off.

Wow. Don Cartegena on some Fat Joe the Corporate Gangster shit.

Pimp C Appreciation

If you admire somebody you should go ahead tell um
People never get the flowers while they could still smell em

-Kanye West from Big Brother

Pimp C

It’s difficult to think that hip hop could lose another great artist, but the sad reality is it has happened again. The passing of Chad “Pimp C” Butler who along side partner in rhyme Bun B paved the way for the current generation of Southern mcees to shine is only a reminder of the mortality that we all must face one day.

When many people die we hear how they were so kind, so smart, and so genuine. Pimp C is no exception to this, however, to me he really was one of the most realest artist I have ever listened too. He wasn’t an overly conscious rapper and he wasn’t overly ignorant either, he had the ability to play both fields which added to his ability to relate to real people.

Pimp C will be missed and I can’t imagine the pain Bun B and his family and friends are feeling right now. Here are some classic joints from the man himself, some joints I’m sure he would like to be remembered for.

50 Cent’s Video Game Bulletproof Makes Top 10 Violent Games

50 Cent’s video game Bulletproof has made Kim Worthy’s Top 10 Violent Video Games. The list, which she compiles every year before Christmas, is her self-righteous attempt to urge parents to not purchase these games. Worthy advises, “Please do not buy these video games and bring them into your home. It desensitizes (children) to violent acts.” I’m sure Fifty would say “thank you for the promotion”, because now I’m sure as hell gonna check out these games!

Worthy also states, “It’s no wonder we’re seeing the crimes we’re seeing lately” linking violent video games to violent crime. This is all typical right-wing nonsense, the real question is how does she come up with these ratings? Does she sit there and play the game with a “oh I never” face. She’s probably on the last mission of GTA as we speak.

Here’s a complete list of the years most violent video games. Be sure to check them out for some good healthy holiday fun!

    Top 10 Violent Video Games

1. Grand Theft Auto
2. Manhunt
3. Scarface
4. 50 Cent’s Bulletproof
5. 300 The Video Game
6. The Godfather
7. Killer-7
8. Resident Evil 4
9. God of War
10. Hitman Blood Money

Lil Wayne Gets XXL and Goes into the Ozone

Lil Wayne

As if Lil Wayne couldn’t get any more press, he’s appearing in the latest issues of XXL and Ozone. The pressure on Wayne to perform for Tha Carter 3 is going to be intense. I know other rappers must be steaming mad as their albums go by with no covers and barely a mention while Weezy just comes through with guest appearances and a buzz that’s going into overkill right now. Speaking of pressure, here’s what Mr. Carter had to say to XXL about the pressure to perform,

My mama taught me things backwards when I was small. Love was hate. Opposite. When you grow up, you find out what’s real, but you already used to the words… Trust me, I’m human, baby. I don’t want nobody looking like, “That nigga’s lying.” It’s pressure, but I’m different. Pressure to me may be a turn-on. I need that motivation. Pressure to somebody else is pressure.

lil wayne ozone

On a lighter note, Weezy was asked about his sexual performance. Specifically he was asked,
What’s the craziest thing a girl has screamed out to you during sex? Here’s his response.

There was this one girl that used to always scream “Aiy! Aiy! Aiy!” and nobody could figure out what it meant. But that was just a jumpoff. When you’re making love, nobody’s screaming. You’re just in each other’s ear breathing and shit. I don’t do that f*cking sh*t. I’m small, I mean, not my [d*ck] but my body, my legs and all that sh*t be hurting afterwards. I got a hernia and everything. My mama was like, “How did you get that” and the doctor said, “Well, it usually comes from strenuous activity. He probably was picking up heavy things.” My mama was like, “No, cause he don’t pick up a f*ckin’ thing. He’s straining by f*cking all them f*ckin’ girls,” tellin’ em, “That’s what you’re doing, having too much f*ckin’ sex.” So I’m layin’ there on the doctor’s table like, thanks, you might as well test me for AIDS now because she’s crazy. But naw, I don’t pound like that. That’s never been my thing. Animals f*ck like that. I’m not an animal. If you wanna be f*cked like an animal, go find a nigga that’ll f*ck you like that, cause I’m not gonna do it. Not gonna do it!

Happy Birthday Ol’ Man Jay

Happy birthday to the man Jay-Z, he turns 38 today. Oldest rapper still doing it.

Guilty Pleasure: Run’s House

Run's House Cast
I don’t watch any tv. But over Thanksgiving I was addicted to Run’s House (which was in a marathon mode over the holiday for no reason). For those of you not aware it’s a reality show about old skool rapper, Run (from the legendary Run-Dmc) and the day to day life he lives with his family of six. It’s kinda of like Hogan Knows Best but more relevant to us cause it comes from a rich-rapper-turned-family-man-perspective.
Rundown
As Run is the brother of Russel Simmons, the man who built Def Jam and Phat Farm (yes the architect of this rap shit), everyone except the Mom (who only appears to sleep all day) are all true hustlers. His 17 year old son Jo-Jo is trying to be a rapper (sidebar: so not going to work), his twenty something daughter’s Vanessa and Angela both run a boutique label of Phat Farm called Pastry as well Vanessa is an actress on some day time soap and Angela just got her own magazine insert through Word Up mag called Rundown (wow how creative). There two young sons Russy and Diggy are just cool little niggas. Diggy is like the next Kanye West, he’s hanging out with Ja Rule’s daughter Britney on some hip hop arranged marriage shit.

The show is executive produced by Diddy and works on so many levels. Particularly because it deals with the aging hip hop generation and its approach to family life. The show reminds me a lot of The Cosby Show but with a hip hop twist. The show casts a positive light on the Black nuclear family in much the same way Mr. Cosby’s show did which is something we haven’t seen since Family Matters? Also its shows the very real issues privileged children have to face in becoming successful in their own right (Paris Hilton take heed). Run and his wifey have raised some very hustle oriented kids that capture the true essence of hip hop hustle. Hmmm maybe the first hip hop value we can all pass on to our kids?

Run’s House airs Thursday nights at 10pm on MTV. Check out the preview to season 4. Yeah I can’t believe this is already into season 4. You can also watch some episodes here.

Here’s a clip from Kid Rock’s appearance on the show.

Lil Kim: Yuck

Lil Kim
There should be a law against all Black people prohibiting them for decreasing the width of their nose. You either end up looking like an alien or Micheal Jackson. Besides it shows some self-hate issues regarding race that you should get over mentally before trying to get over physically.

Also short girls, should not be getting bowling ball implants -scratch that- no women should be getting bowling ball implants. Shit looks so unnatural. So what you rock an A cup, eat some greasy KFC for a month and watch the tat tats pop out maybe get a booty bonus too. It’s all natural.

For the record, Lil Kim looked just banging when she first came out (and was a much rapper back then -even with Biggie ghostwriting). I thought she had no time for fake ones?

Young Lil Kim
Gotta love that leopard skin camel toe.
