Nas going with “Nigger”

In an interview today with Mtv News, Nas clarified the situation regarding naming his album “Nigga” and has said he is now naming his album “Nigger”. Yes, that’s right. Nigg-ER.
Nas Thursday morning said,
I don’t know where that [report] came from and neither does Def Jam.
Many bullshit hiphop sites put out an unconfirmed report earlier on in the week stating that representatives close to Def Jam exec L.A. Reid said that they had no release date for Nas and that they would never allow him to release such an album with said title. Really.
Nas went on to say that the album is completed and basically explained the albums significance as follows,
I’m talking to the streets. Stay out of our business. You ain’t got no business worrying about what the word ‘nigger’ is or acting like you know what my album is about without talking to me. Whether you in the NAACP or you Jesse Jackson. I respect all of them … I just want them to know: Never fall victim to Fox. Never fall victim to the shit they do. What they do is try to hurry up and get you on the phone and try to get you to talk about something you might not know about yet.
Hmmm sounds like what I was referring to yesterday when I got heated over that Fox News bullshit segment on Nas (read it here). Great minds think alike. Or maybe Nas reads YoRapper.com. Nas also went on to say.
I wanna make the word easy on muthafuckas’ ears. You see how white boys ain’t mad at ‘cracker’ ’cause it don’t have the same [sting] as ‘nigger’? I want ‘nigger’ to have less meaning [than] ‘cracker.’ With all the bullshit that’s going on in the world, racism is at its peak. I wanna do the shit that’s not being done. I wanna be the artist who ain’t out. I wanna make the music I wanna hear.
Whoa. Dude is on some real nigga shit. I personally could care less what his album is called as long as the music is hot. Although I do feel ways when I hear a white boy say “nigga” but its cool as long as they down with hip hop. However, to the real racists that say “nigger” with malice, I suppose Nas is trying to downplay the word to show it has no effect. Interesting approach. It’s like in the Art of War (that’s a book) where you make your weaknesses your strength. Sorta like when Biggie said, “Heart throb never black and ugly as ever”. Anyway, I am sure Fox News will be all over this. Get ready for another in-depth report on the lyrics to one of Nas’s greatest hits of all time “Shoot ‘Em Up”. Sarcasm for you smart dumb niggas of course.
Also check out this $150 giftcard from Footlocker I know yall could use some new kicks right about now.
WTF is Kanye wearing @ BET Hip Hop Awards

I know, I know, it don’t matter what you wear. But cot damn, Kanye wearing red tights at the BET Hip Hop Awards. Of all the places to get your metrosexual on! He still killed his performance though. Speaking of destroying shit, Lil Weezy’s performance of “Gossip” was intense.
This dude came out like Jigga on some Blueprint shit. Every word was felt. Everyone was standing on their feet for this brotha. I’m starting to think this dude actually does got next. WTF did I just say. Anyway I’m looking to get the real version of this track, apparently it is the track made against Fifty. But I don’t really see it. It is obviously inspired by his detractors though, you know the “omnipresent haters”. Check out the video and check out this deal for 500 free songs from itunes (only for U.S. peeps).
Ne-Yo Wine up on a Tranny

Shouts to the professional hater for this. Might be photoshop trying to plug some gay website, can’t tell. Maybe someone can verify this. But damn Ne-Yo on some shit, literally.
Fox News Talking about Nas’s album “Nigga”

Why can’t we have an articulate spokesperson from the rap world to explain these things to these lilly white journalists? These two fools from SOHH.com and Allhiphop.com come of as church going uncle toms, how the heck are you guys hip hop? As soon as that white chick said, “What’s so great about this innovative guy? [starts to do a freestyle mocking rap] ‘I’m the N with the glocks and pumps, suckerfree from the chumps’ [end of the wackest thing ever], I mean what’s so innovative about that?”, you should have said, “Don’t ever do that again”. That mock rap right there is what we are fighting against, these old Conservatives (Read: old rich white folk and uncle toms) that don’t know about hip hop think that ‘mock rap’ is an exact representation of what it is and more devastatingly think what Nas’s body of work consists of.
To make matters worse, they end the segment with a montage of Nas’s worst songs that no one listens to. Everyone knows the only song Fox has heard from Nas is “Shoot ‘Em up”. [Someone please zshare them “I Can”.] This is his worst song on his worst album. No one bumps “Shoot ‘Em Up”. [It was a bad movie too]. Anytime you niggas go on FOX name these songs that were actually released as singles, that people actually listen to and get inspired from to do good. In fact, print this out. [Heck! Use the Free 500 songs to download these].

Nas did a song with his dad! His dad. I don’t even know where my dad is. He is the wrong person to target as being the representative of “mindless gangster rap”. [Though it would be a lot harder to defend 50 Cent]. Is Fox going to claim Talib is a gangster rapper now? Don’t make excuses for Nas by saying politicians do bad and do good. Say what hip hop heads are saying. Stop being f*cking idiots! Hip hop will stop saying “nigga”, “hoes” and “bitches” when Hip Hop decides they don’t want to say those words. Nas calling his album, “Nigga” is a testament to the true spirit of hip hop, which is to buck the system. This means we do not listen to what some old white man tells us, we speak on our realities from the humble places we come from. The old generation of white folk is what called us “niggas”, “hoes” and “bitches”, that’s where we got these words from. Now yall want to tell us to stop using them. We’ll stop when we damn well feel like it. Oh yes YoRapper is mad, steaming mad, yall done did it now!
Cassidy Talking Recklace about Jay-Z?

WTF. Taking a play from 50 Cent’s playbook (or is that Kanye’s?). Cassidy who no one is checking for right now. And more importantly, no one knows when his album is coming out, was asked by SOHH how does he feel about dropping an album the same day as Jay-Z. Here is what Cassidy had to say.
“I think right now, the way that I got the hood on smash and the way that my song is poppin’ off, I don’t think it would be a smart decision for Hov to drop on November 6.”
Pause. Pause. WTF. I know you re-read it again. Anyway at least now we know when homies album dropping. But no one is still going to cop that shit. Sorry. But hey your a hustler, your a, your a hustler (or was that Jay-Z over your last hit).
Lil Wayne whores himself out to Jigga

In an unlikely turn of events, Lil’ Wayne this years feature-whore, is to appear on Jay-Z’s tenth album American Gangster. Yes you read that right. We all know Wayne will go on anyones record, but for Jigga to allow this either shows Jigga’s desperation to appease the young fans, or just shows he wants to outshine the young boy Weezy.
It’s weird, because Weezy did state he was better than Jay-Z, but later apologized for his remarks. Many also speculated that Jay-Z’s verse on T.I.’s “Watch What You Say” was directed at Weezy F Baby Please Say the Baby. The track which pairs Hov with Weezy is called “Hello Brooklyn 2.0″, not really sure if it makes sense to have a dude from New Orleans on a track with that title. But whatever, it’s Big Pimpin’ baby! We’ll keep you posted. Here is the official tracklisting for American Gangster in stores November 4, 2007.
